I did a 3 day juice cleanse... I was inspired by Joe Cross, a man who traveled the world on a 60 day juice cleanse! He brought his juicer around with him and invited people to try a fresh juice. His mission was to clean out his system. He had an auto immune disease that caused him to break out in rashes, was overweight, and not happy, inside and out.
After the 60 days Joe lost 82 lbs, decreased the medicine that he was on and continued to live a healthy, active lifestyle.
I highly recommend his documentary, Fat, Sick, and nearly dead.
It is crazy to me that 70 % of Americans are overweight, we eat 1 million commerical chickens per hour, drink orange juice which has just as much sugar as a coca-cola, our all of our advertisements are size 0 models, celebrities will market candy, soda, junk food, clearly something isn't working here and we are all fat, sick, and nearly dead.
I wanted to try the juice cleanse because normally for me juices amplifies what is good; it brings you up up up up up, not down down like alcohol, caffeine, junk food, soda etc.
3 days was hard for me, but happy for the experience.
The coffee and sugar detox was worst part.
The first day was easiest, as I have done 1 day fasts before, so it was still fun and exciting in the beginning...
Day two was rough. It felt like my eyebrows were going to fall into my eyes my head was throbbing from no coffee or sugar.
I had cleaned the coffee pot prior to doing this cleanse.
Funny story:
My dad was doing it with me.
On day two I came down to the kitchen in head pain, asked my dad if he had any coffee, since he seemed just terrific. He paused a second, and then said no, he did not. I leave the kitchen, off for the day, and when I return home later that night I check the coffee pot, and it had left over coffee in it!!!!!
My dad had snuck some coffee in! No wonder why he didn't have a headache!
This was hard. I really didn't even want to drink the juice, by the middle of this all, but when I did I felt a burst of energy and like I could keep going.
