Kitchari, an Ayurvedic dish that changed my life, thanks to my Ayurvedic guru friend, Ali Crivelli.
Ayurveda translates to the science of life.
Kitchari, a nourishing, cleansing dish, which translates to mixture, and is my absolute favorite.

You will need:
1/2 tsp. coriander powder
1/2 tsp. cumin powder
1/2 tsp. whole fennel seeds
1/2 tsp. mustard seed
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
1/2 tsp. cumin powder
1/2 tsp. whole fennel seeds
1/2 tsp. mustard seed
1/2 tsp. turmeric powder
shaved 1 inch of ginger root
1 tbsp oil olive or ghee
different veggies -- I like cauliflower, beets, spinach, carrots... can look up what is good for your dosha
cayenne and chilli powder (but not necessary)
white basmati rice (soak rice in water for 4-5 hours prior to cooking)
mung beans (soak beans in water for 4-5 hours prior to cooking)
7 cups water!
Then put ghee and spices in a pot on low.
then add rice + beans
7 cups water
bring to boil then simmer for 20 minutes
then
and veggies
cook for 20 minutes
and then done!
serve with lemon squeeze, sea salt, black pepper
and I like chilli powder too!
also beet sauerkraut or kimchi on top.. get in that probiotic!!!!
